So after doing about a minute worth of research I learned that J.Cole is originally from Fayvetteville, North Carolina. Born Jermaine Cole, he started rapping at age 12 and followed in the footsteps of Slick Rick, Tupac and Nas with the art of storytelling. J.Cole used going to college as not only the inspirations but the motivation to run after his dreams. After graduating from St.Johns University, Magna Cum Laude, he dropped his first mix tape "The Come Up" hosted by DJ On Point.
J.Cole started out with the name 'The therapist' but just a few years ago changed it to J.Cole because it "sounded corny". In his recent interview with Honey Magazine he comes off very articulate and confident, wants to be remembered for his music and believes he has to "establish his sh!t first". I will definitely be checking for his music. J.Cole is currently signed to Roc Nation, has his 2ND mix tape, The Warm Up out and is preparing to drop his studio release soon. J.Cole is also featured on Jay-z's current LP "Blueprint 3". I wish you much success J.Cole!
